"SPCC 101: Why Church and why this church?" - Session One, Part 2"
https://youtu.be/UQCxWtsmeRs

We're back to focus our attention on the amazing God we serve and consider the practical impact of His work and His word in our lives. This week we want to go a little deeper just by asking ourselves a few questions. Last week all of this information and more was presented in the video linked here
https://youtu.be/1f1r_CnXi1w ). But now you are invited to review the ideas presented simply by thinking about and/or discussing the three questions presented in this video with someone in your household, a friend on the phone or whatever works in your context. It is amazing how the Holy Spirit illuminates God's living Word and guides our growth when we are purposeful and prayerful. Don't worry, you don't have to be a bible scholar and you don't even have to get the right answers right now. God loves to work over time through a process and He will work through the simplest things if we let Him. If you have any questions though please feel free to email Pastor Dave at dave@southpointcc.ca

As always we want to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this video and to all you who watched! Thanks for joining us.

"SPCC 101: Why Church and why this church?" - Session One, Part 1
https://youtu.be/1f1r_CnXi1w

WHY CHURCH? - Worldwide the Jesus loving, bible believing, singing, praying and faithfully serving people of God have more franchises than McDonald's. It turns out Jesus was, and is, very positive about the general notion of church! You could make an argument that Jesus was pretty hard on the established religious practice of the Pharisees and other Jewish rules so it kind of pegs a question. Why was He pro church? Possibly because everything Jesus encouraged His disciples to do was exactly what we like about the modern church and because everything He encouraged his disciples not to do is exactly what bothers us about the modern church.

As always we want to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this video and to all you who watched! Thanks for joining us.

The chance to specifically reflect on Jesus' journey to the cross is something Good Friday naturally beckons. But frankly, do we have the stomach for it? In our day and age it all perhaps just seems so barbaric. Yet the irony is that without the Cross of Calvary we are actually stuck in a hopeless state of barbarism. How incredible to discover that it is in this very journey we are freed from the past, from all that is darkest about humanity in general. And even more wonderfully, from the scariest parts of our own humanity.

At South Point, "church" is about who we are everyday, not just about where we go one day.
